A huge opportunity awaits on home ice as the Hawks can advance to the WHL Championship with a win tonight. Portland has rattled off three straight wins, including two in front of the Rose City faithful, en route to a 3-1 series lead over the Cougars. It’s a testament to the team, for sure, but players and coaches alike are quick to point out the extra push they get when playing in the VMC.
“The fans really give us a lift,” said Head Coach/GM Mike Johnston after last night’s win. “It’s exciting to see how they’ve rallied around the team this year and in the playoffs, so we’re gonna need them tomorrow night for sure.”

With 10 points in the last three games – including three consecutive three-assist performances – the Detroit Red Wings’ first-rounder became the first Western Conference player to reach 20 points in the postseason. Danielson has combined with Marcus Nguyen to create a deadly duo in the Western Conference Championship, with Nguyen posting six goals in the last three games. Danielson, acquired via trade in January, has blossomed with the Winterhawks and boasts seven multi-point performances in 12 postseason contests.
