Hanas on a Heater
Cross Hanas’ four-point performance in last night’s game would have turned heads on its own, but add in that it was his sixth straight multi-point outing and the Texan’s production becomes mind-boggling. Hanas has points in 15 of his last 18 games played, including two or more points in 11 of those, and has taken over the team’s scoring lead with 18 goals and 37 assists for 55 points in just 40 games.
In addition, Hanas leads all Winterhawks skaters with 17 points in nine games against Spokane this year, with seven goals and 10 helpers. Keep an eye on #71 as Portland and Spokane duke it out again tonight.

High Score
There’s scoring in bunches, then there’s the punishment the Winterhawks have been dealing to opponents for the last few weeks. With six or more goals in six straight games and four or more in each of the team’s 11 straight wins, Portland has outscored opponents 68-20 since starting its win streak on Jan. 16.
Per team historian Andy Kemper, the Winterhawks’ last streak of six games with six or more goals came all the way back in the 1988-89 season. Should the Hawks keep their high-scoring ways going on Saturday night, we could be seeing even more Winterhawks history this weekend.
Gauthier Shutout Streak Stands at 252:11
Speaking of history, Taylor Gauthier entered last night’s game with a historic achievement already under his belt, but the final number associated with his shutout streak had not yet been decided. With Erik Atchison’s first-period tally in Portland’s 8-1 win on Friday, Gauthier’s goalless run ended at 252:11 with three consecutive full-game shutouts, officially setting a new Club record. Now, he looks to start a new one in his next appearance!
