Hawks Fight Hunger
We’re teaming up with Fred Meyer and Oregon Food Bank to help fight food insecurity in the Portland area! Fans can donate non-perishable food items in barrels outside the arena, plus Oregon Food Bank is accepting monetary donations through this link and in-person on the concourse!
The Winterhawks are proud to match up to $1,000 in donations this year. Did you know a $10 donation provides up to 30 meals? Thanks to you, Hawks fans, we donated 1,191 meals last year! Can we do better in 2022?
Plus, women 18+ are invited to stick around after the game for the Fred Meyer Turkey Shoot! If you can make a shot into the net, you’ll win a coupon for a free turkey, courtesy of our friends at Fred Meyer.
Fire Meets Fire
Tonight features a matchup of two of the hottest teams in the WHL. Just as the Hawks have picked up points in eight consecutive contests, the Hitmen hit the Rose City on a seven-game winning streak, including two wins over Everett and Seattle to kick off their U.S. Division tour.
Forward Riley Fiddler-Schultz and defenseman Grayden Seipmann fueling Calgary’s impressive run with 18 and 17 points, respectively, along with Oliver Tulk (8G, 7A), Sean Tschigerl (4G, 10A) and Tyson Galloway (3g, 10A). Brayden Peters has excelled between the pipes, notching seven wins in 11 appearances with a .934 save percentage and 1.98 GAA.
Long Time No See
For the first time in 1,136 days, the Hitmen and Winterhawks are back on the same ice! With inter-conference play returning to the WHL this season, the six teams in the Central Division are making their way to the Rose City while the Winterhawks will travel to the East Division clubs in January.
Portland has fared well against Eastern Conference visitors thus far, knocking off Edmonton and Medicine Hat at the VMC in October, but the Hitmen present a stiffer challenge with stout goaltending and a balanced scoring attack. Scoring first will be key – the Hawks are 10-0-1-0 when notching the first goal, and a quick strike can help the team settle into a rhythm against an unfamiliar opponent.
