GAME RECAP: Bennett Byers earns first career win in Wenatchee

EVERETT, Wash. – Bennett Byers stopped 27 of 28 to win his first career start as the Silvertips topped the Wenatchee Wild 2-1 Saturday night.

Riley Brown opened the scoring for Wenatchee 2:48 into the second period, tucking in a rebound after a netmouth scramble. Trailing heading into the third, Dario Blengino tallied his first career goal to even the score at 3:40.

Henry Meier provided the game-winning goal for the second consecutive night, spinning a wrist shot from the right circle over the shoulder of Tobias Tvrznik at 17:45 for a 2-1 win.

Byers, who officially signed as an undrafted free agent on Sep. 11, made two appearances in Preseason, stopping 54 of 56 total shots over 71 minutes of work.

Everett is now 2-0-1 on the season through three games. They play host to the Wild on Saturday, Oct. 3 for Pink the Rink night at Angel of the Winds Arena.
