Nathan Guenther signs WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with Silvertips
EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips have inked defenseman Nathan Guenther to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Guenther, an ’08-born Edmonton, AB native, was originally drafted 70th-overall in the fourth round of the 2023 WHL Draft by the Saskatoon Blades. The 6-foot-1, 181-pound blueliner has skated in three preseason games with the Silvertips this fall. He spent the 2025-26 campaign with the Edmonton Jr. Oilers U18 AAA, where he netted 14 goals with 19 assists and 64 PIM in 37 games. He helped the Jr. Oilers to an AEHL U18 championship title and was named a First-Team All-Star for his efforts.
“Nathan came to camp as a free agent and earned this opportunity,” commented general manager Mike Fraser. “He adds to our deep defensive corps. He’s steady, smart, moves pucks and has already adjusted well to the pace of play at this level. He’s a very solid addition for us.”
Guenther was also named a Second-Team All-Star in the AEHL U18 level in 2024-25. He previously won a CSSHL U15 title in 2022-23 with Northern Alberta Xtreme as a teammate of current Tips defender Brek Liske. He is the second sibling in his family to play in the WHL, as his older brother Dylan won back-to-back Ed Chynoweth Cups with the Edmonton Oil Kings and Seattle Thunderbirds in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Nathan Guenther is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL by signing a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
