Sergey Zborovskiy Drafted 79th Overall
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey Club congratulates defenceman Sergey Zborovskiy on his selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. The Moscow, RUS native was picked in the 3rd round, 79 overall.
Sergey Zborovskiy was acquired by the Pats through the 2014 CHL Import Draft. The lanky defenceman was the 39th overall selection in the annual European intake. Zborovskiy put together an excellent rookie season, accumulating 19 points (3G, 16A) and a +15 plus/minus rating while playing in 71 games this season, missing just the final game of the year. In the playoffs, Zborovskiy led the Blue and White in plus/minus with a +5 in six games.
Zborovskiy was one of the fastest risers on the Central Scouting Rankings throughout the season. He raced from 197th at the mid-term all the way to 103rd in the final list.
