Pats Try to Get Back on Track in Saskatoon
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats (18-11-1-0) clash with the Saskatoon Blades (7-23-2-1) for the second time this season. Their first meeting saw the Pats capture a 5-2 win in Regina. Patrick D’Amico led the Blue and White with three points (2G, 1A) in the contest while Alex Forsberg and Nick Zajac both scored for Saskatoon. Coming into tonight’s game, the Pats try to get back in the win column after having their five game streak snapped in a 6-4 loss to Swift Current Wednesday. The Blades are trying to escape a run of nine straight losses after dropping a 3-0 decision to Moose Jaw last night. Lead Up: Pats Stomped 6-4 by Broncos
Adam Brooks and Patrick D’Amico had the Pats up 2-0 after the first period, but that trend didn’t carry into the second. Swift Current got goals from Jake DeBrusk (2), Brett Lernout and Max Lajoie in a four goal rampage in the middle frame. Brycen Martin tacked on a fifth in the third which proved to be important as Sam Steel and Braden Christoffer each scored to pull the Pats within one. They couldn’t find the equalizer and DeBrusk finished the hat-trick into an empty net.
Off to Toronto
The Pats are without the services of Morgan Klimchuk who is in Toronto for Team Canada’s World Junior Selection Camp. Klimchuk had 21 points (9G, 12A) in his first 21 games of 2014-15.
Call-Ups
With holes in the lineup, the Pats have recalled forward Jacob Elmer (’98 – Edge – CSSHL) along with defencemen Ryan Krushen (’98 – Sherwood Park – AMHL) and Nathyn Mortlock (’96 – Melville – SJHL). Krushen has already played two games in a call up stint with the Pats this season, Mortlock played in seven games last year and Elmer comes in as one of the teams’ top offensive prospects.

With a goal and an assist in Swift Current Wednesday night, Sam Steel is on a six game point streak. Over that stretch, Steel has nine points (4G, 5A) as part of a run that is tied with Brandon’s Ivan Provorov for the longest point streak by a rookie this season. Steel is second in rookie scoring with 25 points.
