Pats Announce 2026-27 Scouting Staff
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats are pleased to announce their scouting staff for the 2026-27 Western Hockey League season, featuring a blend of returning scouts taking on expanded responsibilities and several new additions from across the United States.
The Regina Pats’ scouting staff combines extensive playing, coaching and scouting experience, with regional coverage across Western Canada and key hockey markets in the United States.
Mark Kolesar — Manitoba Regional Scout
Mark Kolesar has been with the Regina Pats since Fall of 2019, serving as the club’s Manitoba Regional Scout. He brings a wealth of hockey experience to the role, having played professionally from 1994 to 2004. Kolesar spent two seasons in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1995 to 1997, with the remainder of his playing career taking him through the minor leagues and various professional leagues in Europe. His extensive playing background and knowledge of the game provide valuable insight in his role as a regional scout.
Andrew Archer — Alberta Regional Scout
Andrew Archer is entering his third season with the Regina Pats as the club’s Alberta Regional Scout. Archer brings a strong playing background to his scouting role, having spent his junior hockey career in the Ontario Hockey League. In 2001, he was selected by the Montreal Canadiens and went on to play with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Now based in Edmonton with his family, Archer continues to draw on his playing experience and knowledge of the game in evaluating and identifying emerging hockey talent throughout Alberta.
Cole Shepherd — Saskatchewan Regional Scout
Cole Shepherd is entering his fifth season with the Regina Pats as the club’s Saskatchewan Regional Scout. Shepherd brings valuable experience in player evaluation and development to his role, highlighted by his time as General Manager of the Saskatoon Blazers of the SMAAAHL U18 league. During his tenure, the Blazers established themselves as a successful program, capturing league championships. His experience identifying and developing young talent provides a strong foundation for his continued work scouting players throughout Saskatchewan.
Rob Gallamore — British Columbia Regional Scout
Rob Gallamore is entering his second consecutive season with the Regina Pats as the club’s British Columbia Regional Scout. Gallamore is no stranger to the organization, having previously worked with the Pats from 2013 to 2019. His familiarity with the club, combined with his dedication and commitment to player evaluation, makes him a valuable addition to the scouting staff. Gallamore’s willingness to put in the time and effort required to be in rinks across British Columbia provides the Pats with an important presence in the region and a strong connection to emerging talent.
Rhett Gordon — U.S. (Colorado Area Scout)
Rhett Gordon is entering his sixth season with the Regina Pats as the club’s Colorado Area Scout. A proud Pats alumnus, Gordon played for the organization from 1992 to 1996, giving him a unique connection to the club and its history. Gordon brings a strong understanding of player development and the game to his scouting role. He currently serves as the Director of Northern Colorado Youth Hockey, where he continues to be actively involved in the development of young players. His experience both as a former Pats player and as a leader in youth hockey makes him a valuable member of the club’s scouting staff.
Jason Ulmer — U.S. (North Dakota Area Scout)
Jason Ulmer is entering his first season with the Regina Pats and will play a pivotal role in the club’s player identification efforts in the United States. A Saskatchewan native from Wilcox, Ulmer developed his game with the Notre Dame Hounds before continuing his playing career at the University of North Dakota. He went on to play professionally in the American Hockey League and spent more than a decade playing in Europe. Following his playing career, Ulmer returned to the University of North Dakota as a volunteer coach, further expanding his experience in player development and evaluation. His extensive playing and coaching background will be a valuable asset to the Pats as they continue to identify and evaluate talent throughout the United States.
Sean Fish — U.S. (Minnesota Regional Scout)
Sean Fish is entering his first season with the Regina Pats as the club’s Minnesota Regional Scout. He brings an extensive background in player evaluation, with scouting experience across the North American Hockey League, High School Hockey, and the United States Hockey League. His familiarity with the Minnesota hockey landscape and experience evaluating players at multiple levels will be a valuable asset to the Pats. Sean currently coaches High School Hockey in Minneapolis, keeping him closely connected to the region and its emerging talent. His knowledge, experience, and strong presence in the hockey community will play an important role in identifying and evaluating players throughout Minnesota.
Dale McMullin — Head Scout
Dale McMullin is entering his 15th season with the Regina Pats as the club’s Head Scout. Throughout his tenure, Dale has played a pivotal role in identifying and evaluating talent for the organization. His dedication, work ethic, and communication skills have made him a trusted resource for players, families, agents, and advisors. Dale’s experience and knowledge of the game will continue to be an important part of the Pats’ scouting efforts as he works closely with management and the scouting staff to identify and acquire talent for the organization.
