Pats Host Reinhart and Ice
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats (33-19-4-3) wrap up their season series with the Kootenay Ice (31-27-1-2) at the Brandt Centre (7 p.m.) tonight. In the previous three meetings, the Pats have a 1-1-1-0 record against the Ice. Last time out saw the Pats battle back from a 3-0 deficit, but fall 4-3 in overtime in Cranbrook. Taylor Cooper leads the Pats with four points (2G, 2A) in four games against the Ice split between the Pats and Hurricanes. Jaedon Descheneau leads all skaters with five points (3G, 2A) in three games against Regina. The Pats roll in after winning their last three including a 5-4 shootout win in Saskatoon. The Ice have points in five straight, but didn’t do the Pats any favours as they fell 7-6 in the shootout to Swift Current last night. Tune into today’s game on 620 CKRM starting at 6:35 p.m.
Promotions at the Brandt Centre
This evening is the 6th Annual Howard Anderson First Nations/Metis Awareness Night. There will be performances celebrating First Nations culture throughout the game and a teepee set up on the concourse for fans to visit. It’s also a Wiener Wednesday, featuring 2-for-1 hot dogs at concessions all night. It’s also the final Toonie Exchange night of the season for Season Ticket Holders. Bring unused Season Tickets to the Brandt Centre Box Office to exchange for $2 tickets to tonight’s game.
Lead Up: Pats Edge Blades 5-4 in Shootout
It wasn’t a gem from the Pats after a sleepy start to the 11:30 a.m. game at SaskTel Centre. They woke up in the third period after falling behind 3-1. Rykr Cole and Taylor Cooper scored to bring the Pats even and Luc Smith got them in front before Ryan Graham tied the game 4-4. Daniel Wapple slammed the door shut in overtime and the shootout while Taylor Cooper scored to send the Pats to a 5-4 win.
Cooper Back in a Big Way
Taylor Cooper manufactured a crucial return to the lineup Monday after missing five games with a lower body injury. Cooper scored and added an assist in regulation and tallied the shootout winner. He sits tied with Adam Brooks for the team lead in goals (22) and fourth on the Pats with 45 points.
Streakin’
Two Pats are among the league leaders when it comes to active point streaks, and they both just returned from injury. Adam Brooks has points in three straight since returning to the lineup to move his total to ten straight (3rd – WHL). Cooper had points in eight straight before his injury and sits fourth in the league behind Brooks at nine. Cooper has points in 11 of his 14 games with the Pats.
