Pats Head North to Prince Albert
Head-to-Head
The Regina Pats (7-6-0-0) matchup with the Prince Albert Raiders (8-5-1-0) in their second game of the season. The teams’ first meeting resulted in a 3-1 Prince Albert win Wednesday night when rookie goaltender Nick McBride made 42 saves for the victory. Boston Leier scored the Pats lone goal of the contest while the Raiders got markers from Josh Morrissey, Dylan Busenius and Jayden Hart. Heading into tonight’s game, the Pats have fallen in two straight after their six game run. Meanwhile, the Raiders have been off since their 3-1 win over the Pats in Regina. This evening’s game can be heard on RM2 (sportscage.ca) starting at 6:35 p.m.
Lead Up: Oil Kings Run Over Pats 7-2
The Oil Kings jumped out to an early 2-0 lead then pumped in five goals in the middle frame to jump out to a 7-0 lead through forty. Ashton Sautner had two goals and an assist for Edmonton from the blue-line. The Pats got on the board in the third courtesy of the special teams. Dyson Stevenson scored on the powerplay and Chandler Stephenson added a shorthanded goal in the 7-2 loss.
Getting Familiar
The Pats and Raiders will be all too familiar with each other over the next couple weeks. The teams face each other three times over ten days. The Pats have already seen similar scheduling quirks, going up against the Swift Current Broncos three times in the first fifteen days of the season and playing the Moose Jaw Warriors four times from Oct. 12th-Nov. 3rd.
Down a Man? No Problem
Chandler Stephenson sits tied with Oliver Bjorkstrand for the WHL lead in shorthanded goals with three. Shorthanded goals make up 37.5% of Stephenson’s total (8). The Pats are tied with the Portland Winterhawks for the league lead in shorthanded goals with a total of four on the season.
Helping Out
Kyle Burroughs is having a great offensive start to the season from the Pats blue-line with thirteen points in the Pats first fourteen games. With all of those assists, Burroughs sits second in league scoring among players who have yet to tally a goal (Reid Gow – 16A). The Pats Captain is tied for seventh in WHL defenceman scoring.
Who to Watch on Prince Albert
Josh Morrissey seems to have the Pats number. Last season, the Winnipeg Jets prospect totaled ten points (4G, 6A). In the teams’ previous meeting, Morrissey scored the insurance marker of the Raiders’ three one win.

Rider Pride night presented by Mosaic is Wednesday, October 30th. The Pats will be sporting commemorative green jerseys featuring a Pats/Riders logo. Help the Blue and White go Green and White by wearing green to the Brandt Centre in support of the Riders push towards Grey Cup 101.
