Pat win in Lethbridge

Lethbridge Alberta – Maybe getting away from the heat of Regina that was all the Pats needed as they put together their best 60 minute effort of the season in a 3-2 shootout win.

Lethbridge opened the scoring early in the first with Phillip Tot’s 3rd of the season, but Garrett Mitchell finished a fantastic shift with his third of the season to tie it at 1 after 20. 90 seconds into the second, Alex Kuvaev banked a pass off Ricard Blidstrand’s skate and past Matt Hewitt for a 2-1 lead after the frame. As time was winding down in the third, Andrew Rieder buried his first of the season to tie the game and send the game to overtime, which solved nothing.

In the shootout, both Hurricane shooters didn’t get a shot off while Jordan Weal and Colin Reddin (with an unreal bottle popper) scored in both of their attempts for the win.

There were a ton of first tonight, Matt Hewitt’s first WHL win, the Pats first road win of the season and their first shootout win of the season. It ended a 5 game losing streak and sets them up for tomorrow night’s battle with the Kootenay Ice. It’s a 7pm puck drop with CKRM providing all of the action beginning with the pregame show at 6:35.
