Transfer of Ownership Approved
The WHL’s Board of Governors met Wednesday to vote on the application to transfer ownership of the Regina Pats. The application for Russ and Diane Parker to sell the oldest Junior Hockey franchise in North America to Queen City Sports and Entertainment Group Ltd. was unanimously approved by the Board of Governors. The Pats’ new ownership group will be introduced today in a news conference at the Brandt Centre. Tune in on 620 CKRM at 3 p.m. to hear it live.
Draft History
The Pats made organizational history when they picked goaltender Jordan Hollett with the 13th Overall selection in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. It’s the first time the Pats have selected a goaltender in the opening round of the Draft since its inception in 1990.
WHL Bantam Draft
The Pats added nine players to their organization Thursday at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. After Hollett, the Pats selected Erik Gardiner (2nd), Riley Bruce (5th), Garrett Ewert (6th), Carson Welke (7th), Zachary Cox (8th), Gary Haden (9th), Adam Sandstrom (10th) and Robert Holmes (11th) for a total of one goaltender, three defencemen and five forwards.
