PREVIEW: Pats host Rebels in Remembrance Day Game
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats (6-7-0) play the fourth game of their six game homestand and the first of three games this week when they host the Red Deer Rebels (10-6-1) inside the Brandt Centre on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The Pats have won four straight games coming into play tonight after a 6-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday, which evened up the season series at one apiece. Tanner Howe scored twice on the power play for his first career multi-goal game, while Borya Valis totaled his first career multi-point effort with a three assist game. Adam McNutt scored his first in a Pats uniform while Zack Stringer (1G-1A) and Ryker Evans (1G-1A) also chipped in with multi-point contests. The Pats outshot the Wheat Kings 44-22, while going 2-for-6 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.
On the other side, the Red Deer Rebels are 3-2 over their seven game road trip and are coming off a 5-2 win in Moose Jaw last night. The Rebels have played 17 games this season which is the most in the WHL after they played 13 games in October (8-4-1). The Rebels end their road swing in Prince Albert on Friday before returning home where they will play six of the next seven games on home ice.

This will mark the first of four meetings this season and first of two in November.
Last season, the Regina Pats did not play the Red Deer Rebels as they were not in the Subway Hub Centre. The last time these two teams met was on December 7th, 2019, inside the Brandt Centre, with the Pats defeating the Rebels 3-2. The Pats went 3-0-1 in the season series against the Rebels in the 2019-20 season with all four games decided by one goal. Regina is 7-2-3 against Red Deer since the 2017-18 season.
HEADLINES
- Tonight’s game against the Rebels will be the annual Remembrance Day game, featuring a pre-game ceremony to honour members of the Canadian Armed Forces. This game will feature a drumline performance by the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry during the first intermission. There will also be a pre-game ring presentation for Connor Bedard, who was a member of Team Canada’s Gold Medal winning team from the Under-18 World Championships in Dallas, TX this past spring.
- Regina Pats captain Logan Nijhoff and Extreme Hockey are teaming up with Hockey Gives Blood, donating money to the Canadian Blood Services for every faceoff win this season…Nijhoff and his family will be donating 50 cents for every faceoff he wins, while Extreme Hockey will donate 1$ for each faceoff he wins…all donations are accepted at hockeygivesblood.ca/logan-nijhoff/
- The Pats have won four straight games since their seven game skid came to an end on Oct. 29…during the streak, the Pats have outscored opponents 21-to-8, outshooting the opposition 176-to-113, averaging 44 shots and 28.25 against per game during that time.
- It’s been scoring by committee as of late for the Regina Pats as seven different players helped the Pats score 10 total goals in two games last week, leading to wins over Brandon and Moose Jaw.
