PREVIEW
The Regina Pats take on the Swift Current Broncos in the third of six meetings this season.
The Pats were busy on the trade front on Thursday, dealing former captain Tanner Howe to the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for 2007-born defenceman Reese Hamilton, 2006-born forward Keets Fawcett and two draft picks.
On the ice, the Pats have picked up points in three straight games (1-0-1-1), as each of their last three contests have finished by a 4-3 final in extra-time. Wednesday, the Pats fell to the Tri-City Americans 4-3 in a shootout following a third period comeback. Zackary Shantz (1G-1A), Cole Temple and Dayton Deschamps scored for Regina while Kelton Pyne tied a career-high with 42 saves. The Pats finished 0-1 on their power play and 3-3 on their penalty kill. Regina was outshot 46-27.
Meanwhile, the Swift Current Broncos had their five game winning-streak come to a close on Tuesday at home following a 3-1 loss to the Americans. Luke Mistelbacher scored the Broncos only goal while Reid Dyck made 42 saves in the loss. The Broncos were outshot 45-34. Both teams were 0-4 on their power plays.
WHO TO WATCH
Zach Pantelakis, Reese Hamilton and Keets Fawcett are expected to make their Pats debut tonight in Swift Current after they were all recently acquired via trade. Hamilton and Fawcett also had impressive seasons last year with the Hitmen, as Hamilton recorded 31 points as a 16-year-old and Fawcett added 45 points as a 17-year-old, including 19 goals.
For the Broncos, Luke Mistelbacher has had an impressive start to the season, leading the Broncos in scoring with 36 points (14G-22A) in 20 games. He currently holds the longest point-streak in the WHL, gathering a point in 15 straight games (12G-19A-31PTS).
