PREVIEW
Tonight marks the third of five meetings between the Pats and Tigers, and first since November 1 at the Brandt Centre.
The Pats ninth of 13th games in the month of January, which is the most games scheduled for the Pats in any month. So far Regina is 3-5 in January, having picked up wins over Red Deer (2x) and Moose Jaw.
The Pats are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Ewan Huet made 31 saves, and Caden Brown scored his team leading 14th of the season to secure his 100th career point. Zach Lansard also registered an assist to extend his point-streak to a career-best four straight contests. The final shots were 35-22 for Calgary. The Hitmen were 1-6 on their power play, while the Pats were 1-4 on their man-advantage.
Meanwhile, the Medicine Hat Tigers have won their last six games since January 4, and are coming off a weekend sweep of the Calgary Hitmen, winning 3-0 on Friday, and 3-2 on Saturday at home (SOW). Ryder Ritchie scored twice in the third to force extra-time, and Jonas Woo scored the shootout winner in round eight. The shots were 24-16 for the Tigers. Medicine Hat was 1-2 on their power play and 1-1 on their penalty kill. Harrison Meneghin made 14 saves in the win.
WHO TO WATCH
Matt Paranych takes on his former team for the first time this season. The Edmonton product was dealt by the Tigers to the Pats on December 13, and has tallied two points (1G-1A) in 11 games with the Pats. This season, the 17-year-old has eight points (4G-4A) in 31 games.
Gavin McKenna currently has the longest active point-streak in the WHL at 19 games, recording 41 points (11G-30A) during that time. The 17-year-old forward has tallied 70 points (20G-50A) in 35 games, which ranks third in league scoring.
COMING UP
The Regina Pats end their road trip at the VistLethbridge.com Arena on Wednesday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Pats are back on home ice on Saturday, January 25 against the Prince Albert Raiders.
