PREVIEW: Pats back in action Saturday at home to Lethbridge
The Regina Pats (28-23-5-0) are right back in action on Saturday night against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (25-22-6-0). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre. The Pats were last in action on Friday night at home to Kootenay, losing 4-2 to the ICE. The Hurricanes were in Moose Jaw Friday and were blanked by the Warriors 2-0. Tonight is the third of four meetings on the season between the Pats and Hurricanes, Regina holds a 0-2-0-0 record in the season series. The Lead Up: Pats win streak halted by Kootenay Friday
The Regina Pats saw their three game win streak come to an end on Friday night in a 4-2 loss to the Kootenay ICE at the Brandt Centre. The ICE got the scoring started 46 seconds into the first when Alec Baer put home his 23rd and it was 1-0 after one. In the second, the Pats found a tying goal from Nick Henry, his ninth and it was 1-1. However, Kootenay responded with three straight, one shorthanded, one on the powerplay and one even strength to lead 4-1 after 40 minutes. The Pats got the game to within two when Matt Bradley picked up his 31st, 6:33 into the third period but the ICE would hold on from there for the 4-2 victory. Sam Steel led the Pats with two assists while Ryan Kubic made 29 saves.
Head to Head
Tonight is the third of four meetings between the Pats and Hurricanes, Regina is 0-2-0-0 in the season series, losing once at home and once on the road. The Pats are led by five different players who have single points in the season series, Matt Bradley, Robbie Holmes, Emil Oksanen, Nick Henry and Jake Leschyshyn. The Hurricanes’ Jordy Bellerive has five assists against Regina, Taylor Ross has four points, while Zane Franklin and Calen Addison both have two points. The Pats enter Saturday in the first wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference, four points back of the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Hurricanes are second in the Central Division, seven points back of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Pats forward Cameron Hebig played in his 250th career WHL game on Friday night against Kootenay. The 20-year-old from Saskatoon has put up 95 goals and 209 points in those 250 games. Hebig had an assist on Friday night to extend his point streak to four games with four goals and two assists in that stretch. The Saskatoon product has put up 74 points this season which is tied for ninth in WHL scoring.
The Streak Lives
Pats Captain Sam Steel extended his point streak to four games on Friday night with a two assist performance against the Kootenay ICE. The signed first round pick of the Anaheim Ducks has scored three times and has eight assists for 11 points in that stretch. Since returning from winning gold at the World Juniors, Steel has scored six goals and has 18 assists in 12 games.
