Pats – Raiders Game Day Preview
The Regina Pats (0-0-1-0) play the back half of a home and home in Prince Albert Saturday night against the Raiders (1-0-0-0). Puck drop at the Art Hauser Centre at 7:00 p.m. The Raiders won the opening game of 2016/17 at the Brandt Centre Friday night, 4-3 in overtime. Lead Up: Pats Lose Home Opener in OT
The Pats outshot the Raiders 45-30 on Friday night but dropped their home opener 4-3 in overtime. Braydon Buziak scored his first career WHL goal with less than five minutes remaining to force overtime but that’s when Simon Stransky scored his second of the night to give the Raiders the extra point. Ian Scott made 43 saves in the win for Prince Albert while Tyler Brown stopped 26 directed his way. Chase Harrison led the way with a goal and an assist for the Pats.
Buziaks First!
Pats forward Braydon Buziak was rewarded for a hard working effort on Friday with his first WHL goal on Friday night. It was a big one late in the 3rd period to tie the game at 3 and eventually force overtime. Buziak took a bounce off the end glass and backhanded it top corner short side.
More Firsts
The Pats Filip Ahl made his WHL debut on Friday night and recorded his first career point. Ahl assisted on the Pats game tying goal in the third. Ahl was returned to the Pats from the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday after playing three rookie games over the weekend. Forward Dawson Leedahl also recorded his first point as a Pat on Friday night with a helper on Chase Harrison’s powerplay marker in the second period.
Powerplay Strikes Again
The Pats powerplay continued its success from the pre-season on Friday night. Chase Harrison scored in the second period for the clubs 12th powerplay goal in their last nine games including the eight in the pre-season. The Pats went 1 for 3 on the man advantage on Friday.
