Pats Alumnus Leschyshyn Signs Extension With Vegas
Regina, Sask. – The Vegas Golden Knights announced Saturday, August 13, the signing of Regina Pats alumnus Jake Leschyshyn to a one-way, three-year contract extension worth an average annual value of $766,667.
Leschyshyn, 23, appeared in 41 games with the Golden Knights last season, scoring six points (2G-4A), while finishing 46.04% in the faceoff circle. The Raleigh, NC product also tallied 27 points (14G-13A) in 34 games with their AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights last season. The 5-foot-11, 190 lbs. centre made his debut in Los Angeles against the Kings on October 14, and scored his first career NHL goal on November 13 at home against the Vancouver Canucks.
The 2017 Vegas second-round pick played for the Pats from 2014-2019, scoring 131 points (61G-70) in 213 career games with Regina. He was an assistant captain for the Pats during the 2017-18 season in which the Pats went all the way to the Memorial Cup Final. He began the 2018-19 season with the Pats as the 78th captain in franchise history before being traded along with Nick Henry to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a pair of players, two first round picks, a third, fourth and an eighth rounder. For the Pats, the two first rounders turned into defenceman Layton Feist and Connor Bedard, while the third rounded turned into Zane Rowan.
