Howe & Vaughan’s Crack NHL Central Scouting’s Mid-Season Rankings
Regina, Sask. – NHL Central Scouting revealed its midterm ranking of the top North American skaters and goalies, along with the top International skaters and goalies, on Friday.
Pats captain Tanner Howe is ranked 29th amongst North American skaters. Corbin Vaughan comes in at 136th and Jaxsin Vaughan ranks 148th.
Howe, 18, has recorded 47 points (21G-26A) as well as a plus-minus rating of +3 in 39 games this season. The Pats captain leads the current roster in goals, assists, points, power play goals (8), power play assists (10). On January 1 vs. Moose Jaw, the Prince Albert, Sask. product recorded his 200th point, and now has 203 career points (85G-118A) in 178 career WHL games.
The 5-foot-11, 182 lb. left-shot forward will represent Team Red at the upcoming CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Moncton on January 24. Howe is the only player to currently captain a CHL club named to the event. The fourth year Pats player was ranked an ‘A’ level prospect on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List on October 25.
The Vaughan’s, 18, are in their second season with the Pats after completing their 16-year-old season with the club in 2022-23, where both played in 50+ games. This season, Corbin has tallied six points (3G-3A) in 22 games while Jaxsin has picked up 16 points (9G-7A) in 38 contests. Hailing from Merritt, B.C., the twins were selected nine picks apart in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft with Jaxsin going 21st overall and Corbin 30th overall. Both were listed as ‘W’ level prospects on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List on October 25.
Meanwhile, Pats import prospect Stian Solberg is ranked 26th amongst International Skaters. The Oslo, Norway product is a 6-foot-2, 196 lb. left-shot defenceman who is currently playing for Vålerenga in Norway’s top pro league (3G-7A-10PTS-27GP). The 2005-born defenceman also tallied two points (1G-1A) in five games at the 2024 World Juniors.
