Canes return home with 2-0 win
Metsola ties club record with 5th shutout of the season
rLethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes cruised to a much needed 2-0 win as they returned to the ENMAX Centre on Friday night against the Kamloops Blazers. Juha Metsola led the way with 18 saves to record his club record tying fifth shutout of the season; matching Aaron Sorochan, Logan Koopmans and former teammate Michael Maniago. A third straight sellout crowd of 4806 helped welcome the Canes back from their U.S. Division road trip as Carter Bancks notched a two point night (1G,1A) to lead the Canes in scoring while Ben Wright notched the Hurricanes other marker. Metsola is now tied for second in the WHL with five shutouts as he raises his record to 20-18-3-2; his twenty wins match his total for the 07-08 regular season.

rThe Hurricanes will be back in action tomorrow night as they have a Valentine’s day date with their Central division rivals from up north, the Red Deer Rebels. During their last match up in Red Deer, Captain Ben Wright notched what would be the game winner with five seconds remaining in the first period while Zach Boychuk and Austin Fyten notched the other Canes Markers. But it was Michael Tadjdeh who carried the Canes to victory on the strength of a 38 save shut out; it was Tadjdeh’s first in WHL. This game will mark the second last time that these two teams will suit up against each other during regular season play.
