Hall of Fame Induction to kick off huge Lethbridge Hockey Weekend
rLethbridge, AB – Batten Down the Hatches! The Lethbridge Hurricanes and Medicine Hat Tigers are set to collide in a home and home series with playoff ramifications this weekend. The fun kicks off tonight (February 20) at the ENMAX Centre as the Canes look to extend their two game winning streak and gain ground on the Tigers who currently hold 4th place in the Eastern Conference. A win would put the Hurricanes within striking distance – two points of the Tabbies, going into tomorrow night’s return match in Medicine Hat.

rIn Lethbridge’s last game against Medicine Hat, the Hurricanes battled their way to a 7-5 win over the Tigers in a classic hockey game which included everything – hits, fights and highlight reel goals. Brody Sutter tallied the game winner with just under seven minutes remaining while Dwight King had a pair of goals. Mitch Versteeg, Carter Ashton, Brent Henke and Kyle Beach added the other Hurricanes markers, while Max Ross, Brennan Yadlowski and Drew Hoff each had a pair of helpers. Lethbridge had a total of 14 different players get in on the point scoring as Juha Metsola had 19 saves to claim the win.

rThe Hurricanes battled through the loss of their starting goaltender to pull out a 3-0 shutout win last Saturday in Lethbridge. A fourth straight sellout crowd of 5094 saw rookie Michael Tadjdeh put on a stellar performance in relief of the injured Juha Metsola; Metsola would leave the game after the first period with a lower body injury. Tadjdeh finished with 18 saves in two periods of work to notch the second WHL shutout of his career. Zach Boychuk would finish the night with an empty net goal and an assist while Mitch Versteeg and Kyle Beach notched the first Hurricanes goals. The Canes record improved to 30-25-3-2 as they finished the weekend with back to back shutouts. (Feb.13 – 2-0W vs. KAM; Feb.14 – 3-0W vs. RD)

rFriday’s special Hurricanes Broncos Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is set to kick off at 7:00 PM prior to the Canes key divisional match up with the Medicine Hat Tigers.
