Wormald Named to Hlinka Gretzky U18 Camp Roster
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club are proud to announce that 2005-born forward Logan Wormald has been named to Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team Selection Camp which will be for the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup Under-18 Hockey Championship.
Wormald, 16, was originally selected by the Hurricanes in the third-round (45th overall) in the 2020 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. The Langley, BC product appeared in 55 regular season games with the Hurricanes in 2021-2022 totalling 38 points (14g-24a) along with 22 penalty minutes. He also appeared in three WHL post-season games for the Hurricanes being held pointless. Wormald was named the recipient of the Carl Trentini Memorial Award as the Hurricanes Rookie of the Year in 2021-2022.
The 5’9, 150-pound forward finished tied for fifth in team scoring with his 38 points while finishing tied for fifth in goals with 14. Wormald finished tied for seventh in 16-year-old scoring in the WHL last season. He is one of 17 WHL players and one of 24 forwards that will take part at the evaluation camp.
Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt will serve as part of the Management Group for the Under-18 team while Hurricanes team physician Dr. Ben Cameron will serve as the Team Physician at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Meanwhile Hurricanes Head Coach Brent Kisio will serve as a camp coach for the Under-20 World Junior Selection Camp.
The selection camp will take place from July 20-27 in Calgary, AB at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park while the tournament is scheduled to take place in Red Deer, AB at Peavey Mart Centrium from July 31 to August 6.
