Giants Lose 5-4 in Overtime
Boston Leier scored his third goal of the game in overtime to lift the Regina Pats to a 5-4 victory over the Vancouver Giants Friday night at the Brandt Centre.
Brett Kulak opened the scoring with his first of the season just 47 seconds into the game.
Dalton Thrower added to the lead on the power play at 12:27 but Dyson Stevenson scored before the first was over to cut the Giants’ lead to 2-1.
The second period saw the Pats score three goals to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission. Leier scored two of the goals for the Pats in the middle frame, and Stevenson added his second of the night at 19:59 of the second.
Alec Baer scored early in the third to cut the Pats’ lead by one and Joel Hamilton notched his first as a Giant with just over five minutes to go in regulation to tie the game at four.
Hamilton, the third star of the game, took a tripping penalty 57 seconds into extra time and Leier completed his hat trick a minute later to lift the Pats to a 5-4 victory.
Vancouver had 30 shots on goal and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
