Tough Third Period Hurts Sting
Sault Ste. Marie, ON – The Sarnia Sting have had a tough time with West Division leading Sault Ste. Marie all season long and unfortunately Wednesday night would prove no different.
The Sting would play this game minus one of their top players as Mark Katic learned just prior to game time that he had received a 2-game suspension from an incident stemming from last Sunday’s game against Peterborough.
This game would be a tight affair as the first period would be a scoreless one before Ryan Wilson would score what would be the lone Sting goal of the night early in the second.
The Greyhounds would come back with one of their own to tie it with a second period goal of their own sending the teams to the dressing room after 40 minutes tied 1-1.
Unfortunately for the Sting they would get into penalty trouble in the third and would fall victim to a pair of Michael Fine goals to put the game out of reach. Aaron Alphonso would round out the Hounds scoring making the final 4-1.
Tomi Karhunen made 21 saves for the Sting and was named the games third star.
