Sting Sign Solomon – First Round Pick Agrees To Terms
The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club is pleased to announce that their first round pick in the 2003 OHL Priority Selection, Trevor Solomon, has agreed to terms and will be with the club when training camp opens August 25th.
Solomon a native of Garden River, ON is the latest Sault Ste. Marie minor hockey product to join the organization. The Sting will potentially have three players from the Sault system on it’s roster including Solomon, veteran defenceman Jeff Whitfield, and recently signed forward Kelsey Wilson. Past players from the Sault include Brendan Yarema, Preston Mizzi, as well as a couple former captains Tyler Hanchuck and Robb Palahnuk, the Sting’s all time leader in games played.
Solomon spent last season with the Soo North Stars midget club and participated in the Air Canada Cup which was held in Sault Ste. Marie. Sting General Manager Terry Doran who attended the Air Canada Cup obviously liked what he saw in Solomon. Trevor is a young 16 year old who has three years in this league before he is even eligible for the NHL draft, he has a lot of upside. I really like his skating and his puckhandling he always seems to make a good first pass. Trevor just needs to get bigger and stronger and that will come.
