Sting Select Brett Ritchie 12th Overall

The Sarnia Sting have selected Brett Ritchie with the 12th overall pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection.

Ritchie is a Right-Winger who played with the Toronto Marlboros Minor Midgets this season.

The native of Orangeville, who wont turn 16 until July 1st stands 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 190 pounds.

Last season with the Marlboros Ritchie scored 36 goals and 33 assists for 69 points.

Ritchie is a solid up and down support winger who has played both the left and right sides this season. He possesses good size and has a frame that should allow him to add more size. He has a good stick and makes some very effective plays. He is very good along the walls and in the corners, basically all the tough areas of the ice. He plays the role of a big body that will do a lot of the heavy lifting – working the corners and the boards.
