Sting Lose Tight Game in the Soo
Sault Ste Marie, ON – The Sarnia Sting continue to post one of the leagues best goals against averages. Unfortunately they also rank near the bottom of the league in goals for.
Wednesday night in Sault Ste Marie both aspects to the Sting’s play so far this season were on display.
Ryan Munce stopped 39 of 40 Sault Ste Marie shots in his best performance thus far on the season. However on this night the one that got by him was enough to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 victory.
Greyhounds centreman Andrew Desjardins beat Munce at the mid way mark of the 2nd period for the games lone goal.
The Sting mounted a late fury with Munce pulled in the last minute of the game but came up short.
A few trends continued on this night. In the Sting’s six games of the young 2004-05 season all have been decided by just one goal. It also marked the fifth time in which the Sting have only allowed two or fewer goals against. Munce has been in net for all five of the Sting’s games with two or less against.
The Sting look to bust through on the score sheet Friday night when the Saginaw Spirit are in town. Game time is 7:30, for tickets call or visit the box office 541-1717.
