Sting Attacked In Third Period
Owen Sound, ON – The Sarnia Sting made their 2nd and final visit to Owen Sound Saturday night, travelling through less then ideal conditions to do so.
Once in Owen Sound the Sting would show no ill effects from a long bus ride, the Sting would actually carry the flow of the game throughout the first two periods of play taking a 2-1 lead into the third.
Unfortunately for the Sting the Attack would come out firing in the third led by their star Bobby Ryan. Ryan scored on a pretty individual effort just moments into the third tying the score at 2.
The Attack wouldnt let up from there scoring adding 2 more going up 4-2.
The Sting would show plenty of heart pulling within 1 with just under 5 minutes remaining and then pressed for the equalizer but Owen Sound goaltender Michael Ouzas was equal to the task preserving a 4-3 Attack win.
Leading the way offensively for the Sting was rookie forward Jared Gomes who scored a goal and an assist . Ryan McInerney and Tomas Pospisil would round out the Sting scoring. Defenceman Tyson Aitcheson had a big game as well adding 2 assists.
Ryan Nie went the distance between the pipes for the Sting.
The Sting look to rebound Sunday afternoon when the Kingston Frontenacs visit the SSEC on Super Sunday in a matinee affair. Game time is 2:00.
