Sting Hire Dave MacQueen

Sarnia, ON – General Manager Alan Millar announced this morning the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has hired Dave MacQueen as the new Head Coach.


MacQueen spent the past seven seasons behind the bench of the Erie Otters where he enjoyed success winning an OHL Championship, a regular season title, as well as three consecutive Midwest Division Championships.


MacQueen a 10-year OHL bench boss began his Ontario Hockey League career as Head Coach of the Peterborugh Petes in 1993 where he spent 3 years. The Petes won the 1996 OHL Championship under MacQueen.


Following his championship run with the Petes, MacQueen spent two years (96-98) as the Assistant Coach with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning working with Stanley Cup Champion (Calgary Flames) Head Coach Terry Crisp.


MacQueen played three seasons in the OHL (76-79) spending two years in Ottawa before joining the Sudbury Wolves where he scored 60 goals in his final season in the league. He would go on to enjoy a pro career spanning 7 seasons before retiring in 1986.


MacQueen, a native of Woodstock, Ontario and a former Head Coach of the St. Mary’s Lincolns will be moving to Sarnia this off-season along with his wife Nancy, their daughter Julie (13) and sons, Zackary (14) and Dylan (10).
