Sting Fall In Overtime To Spitfires
Windsor, ON – The Sarnia Sting faced the daunting task of facing the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday night in Windsor.
With a premium on points in the tight Western Conference the Sting would need to come up with one of their best efforts of the season if they were to come out of this game with much needed points.
The Sting would dig deep and put together a worthy performance but would come away with one point rather then two.
The Sting actually held a 3-1 lead going into the third but would fall prey to the high powered Spitfire attack eventually falling 4-3 in overtime.
The Sting can take solace in the fact they did come away with the point versus the top rated team in the CHL. The point would enable the Sting to climb over the Erie Otters moving into 6th place in the Western Conference standings.
Justin DiBenedetto led the Sting offence with a pair of goals while Joe Rogalski would round out the scoring.
Goaltender Dan Spence was solid in the Sting net making 34 saves.
The Sting now look to Friday night when they take on the Guelph Storm in yet another crucial matchup.
