Sting fall in home and home
The Sting dropped their second straight to the Knight’s on Friday night in front of 9046 fans at the Budweiser Gardens. Plagued by injury and suspensions, the Sting only dressed 14 skaters in the loss.
The Sting led by a score of 2-1 after 20 minutes of play, but the star-studded Knight’s roster was once again too much to handle. It was a collapse in the 2nd period that resulted in the loss tonight. There was a total of 9 goals score in the second frame, 7 of which were netted by the hometown London Knights. Cumulatively, the Sting outscored the Knights 3-2 in the 1st and 3rd periods; a positive note for the young Sarnia roster.
Defenseman Jeff King, who has been moved up to forward in recent games, led the way for the Sting tonight with 3 assists. Rookie Noah Bushnell recorded the first multi-goal game of his OHL career, picking up two goals in London tonight. Kodola, Brown and Goldobin each picked up a goal and an assist in the loss.
For the Knight’s it was Nikita Zadorov picking up 3 points first star honors to propel his team past the Sting tonight. Montreal Canadians Prospect Michael McCarron was named the game’s second star, finishing with two goals on the night. London defenseman Brady Austin was named the third star of the game with 1 assist and a +2 rating.
Sting goaltender Taylor Dupuis made 52 saves on an astonishing 61 shots against tonight. Jake Patterson made 28 saves for the Knights and picked up the win.
The Sting are in action again on Monday afternoon when the Saginaw Spirit visit the RBC Centre. The puck drops at 2:05. All kids tickets are just $5 and fans are encouraged to bring their skates and take part in the skate with the Sting following the game.
