Sting Add Size And Experience
Sarnia, ON Sarnia Sting General Manager Alan Millar announced this afternoon that the hockey club has acquired a pair of players via trades made today.
The Sting have acquired six foot three right winger Ryan Berard from the Saginaw Spirit and six foot five defenceman Steven Whitely from the Plymouth Whalers.
Berard, an overage right-winger from Niagara Falls, was obtained in exchange for goaltender Parker Vanbuskirk in a deal with the Spirit.
Whitely, an overage defenceman from Petrolia, played for the OHL Champion Plymouth Whalers last season and was acquired from the Whalers for a 10th round pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection.
The Sting acquired the same 10th round, 2009 draft choice from Plymouth on September 13th in exchange for 18 year old defenceman Christian Steingraber.
Both Berard and Whitely are expected to be in the Sting line-up on Thursday night when the club travels to Windsor to take on the Spitfires.
