Ontario Hockey League to conduct Priority Selection process on the Internet
Toronto – The 2003 OHL Priority Selection will be conducted online on Saturday May 3, 2003 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at www.ontariohockeyleague.com.
The OHL, in association with Internet, Light and Power, a Toronto-based Internet service provider, has developed a custom application that will be used to facilitate the Internet draft process for the third consecutive year.
Fans and media will be able to follow the Priority Selection in real time on the OHL’s official web site – www.ontariohockeyleague.com. The web site will feature the Priority Selection results by round, by team and alphabetically and will include selected player information and photographs.
The OHL web site will also feature expanded coverage of the Priority Selection, including player interviews and a special live edition of OHL News – Radio Edition with Terry Doyle. The program will run from 9:00 a.m. through 12:00 noon with special interviews with selected players, team personnel and OHL Central Scouts. Instructions for listening to the show will be posted in the Priority Selection area of www.ontariohockeyleague.com.
The 2003 OHL Priority Selection will consist of 15 rounds of selections. The media are invited to listen in to the conference call announcement of the first round of selections beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The Saginaw Spirit will select first overall, followed by the Sudbury Wolves and Kingston Frontenacs. Teams select in inverse order of the final regular season standings with non- playoff teams selecting before playoff teams.
