Fans cash in on buzzer beaters
On three separate occasions this season, the Sarnia Sting have scored in the last minute of play in the second period. Prior to the season starting, Henne’s Jewellery jumped on the idea of running a jackpot-style promotion, in which when a Sting player scores in the last minute of the second period, a lucky fan receives a gift certificate to their store on Christina Street.
It took all of 20 games before Davis Brown notched the first Henne’s goal of the season. The winning fan on this night was Rachel Langstaff, a student who was thrilled to be the lucky recipient of a $400 gift certificate for Henne’s Jewellery.
Since Brown’s late tally, two players (Nikita Korostelev & Josh Chapman) scored in the last minute of period two over a 3 game span. On the Korostelev goal, Sarnia Sting Season ticket holder Dawn Riley came out on top.
In the high scoring game against Windsor on January 26th, Mr. Paul Laquerre benefitted from Chapman’s goal with only 9 seconds remaining in the period.
The Sarnia Sting would like to thank our generous sponsors for their ongoing support. The current jackpot for next Thursday’s game against London is sitting at $60. Come on out and purchase your Game Night program if you’d like to be the next lucky winner.
