Clune and Team Canada Get Set For Semi Finals
Sting Forward Scored His First Goal of the Tournament Thursday vs. Slovakia
Piestany, SVK – Richard Clune and his Canadian teammates are off to the semi finals at the Under 18 Junior World Cup in Piestany Slovakia after defeating the host Slovaks 6-3 to advance to the medal round with a perfect 3-0 record.
Clune had his best game of the tournament Thursday as he figured in on the scoresheet with his first goal of the tournament as well as taking a pair of minor penalties for charging.
Team Canada will now face Team USA tomorrow with the winner advancing to the Gold Medal game.
Clune is seeking his second international gold as he secured his first as a member of the Ontario Under 17 team that won the World Under 17 Championships last winter.
Sting Head Coach Shawn Camp, an Assistant on the Under 18 staff is in search of his first gold in international competition.
