World U17 Hockey Challenge Begins November 1st in Sarnia

The 2024 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge is set to take place in Sarnia Lambton from November 1-9. This prestigious international tournament will showcase the hockey talents of young athletes from across the globe and promises to deliver thrilling matchups and unforgettable moments on the ice.

Throughout the tournament, fans can look forward to seeing the next generation of NHL stars. Former players like, Joe Sakic, Sergei Fedorov, Pavel Bure, Jeremy Roenick, Mats Sundin, Joe Thonton and numerous NHL legend and Hockey Hall of Fame inductees have played in the WU 17 tournament. Current superstar players like Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Nathan MacKinnon, Alexander Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, Bo Horvath, Matthew and Brady Tkachuk and many others have also competed in the tournament in recent years.

Sarnia Sting to represent Canada

Our local Sarnia Sting will be well represented on this international  stage as 16-year-old first year forwards Alessandro Di Iorio and Beckham Edwards have been named to  Team Canada Red  and Team Canada White  respectively.

The World Under 17 Hockey Challenge showcases the incredible talent of young hockey players from across the globe. Each year, national and regional teams come together to compete for the championship title while representing their countries with pride. Competing teams in the 2024 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge are: Team Czechia, Team Finland, Team Sweden, Team USA, Team Canada Red, Team Canada White.
