Weekend Preview | 3-in-3
The Sarnia Sting are back on home ice Friday night to kick off a trio of games this weekend following a road trip that saw them earn 2 of a possible 4 points after beating the Petes 6-1 last Thursday before a 6-2 loss to the Generals on Friday. The Sting play host to the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday night, then head up the 402 to face the London Knights Saturday evening. The Sting return for a matinee game against the North Bay Battalion on Sunday for their annual Halloween Hockey game to cap off the weekend. Puck drop is at 2:05 PM. Tickets
STING NOTES:
Anthony Salinitri: Salinitri tallied 3G, 1A on Thursday night in a commanding 6-1 win over the Petes. The Flyers’ prospect added an assist on Friday in Oshawa to give him 5 points on the weekend and 13 points through his first 10 games of the season.
Kevin Spinozzi: With 10 points (3G, 7A) in 12 games Kevin is tied for 10th in OHL scoring among defenceman. He had 1 assist and was a +3 on Thursday in Peterborough.
Jordan Kyrou: Kyrou scored both Sting goals in Oshawa on Friday and is tied for the team lead with 16 points (4G, 12 A) in 10 games played. The Blues’ prospect also boasts a team-high plus-minus rating of +8.
Nikita Korostelev: With 11 goals in 10 games, Korostelev is 2nd in OHL scoring and first among Sting skaters. The Leafs’ prospect has 16 points including 6 with the man advantage.
Jordan Ernst: In this, his first year in the OHL, Ernst has 9 points (4G, 5A) through his first 12 games.
State of the Sting: The Sting are currently tied for first in the OHL’s West Division and Western Conference with 17 points. Record: 8-3-1-0
This Friday the Sting return to Progressive Auto Sales Arena for their first of two meetings against the Mississauga Steelheads. The Steelheads own a 5-5-1-1 record through 12 games this season. The puck drops at 7:05 PM.
MISS Players to Watch:
Owen Tippett: The 4th overall pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, Tippett is well on his way to taking the next step in his OHL career with 17 points through 12 games, including a league leading 12 goals. He registered 20 points in 48 games as a rookie last season.
Michael McLeod: McLeod was selected 12th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. McLeod has registered 14 points (1G, 13A) through just 9 games this season. He is coming off a sophomore season where he recored 61 points in 57 games.
The Sting head to London on Saturday to face the Knights at Budweiser Gardens. This will be their second of six meetings this season after the Sting defeated the Knights 4-1 in the season opener. The Knights currently own a record of 7-2-1-1 heading into their Friday night matchup against the Greyhounds.

LDN Players to Watch:
Cliff Pu: Pu was selected in the 3rd round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He has put up 15 points through 9 games so far this season, following a 31 point season in 63 games a year ago. He has recorded at least one point in 8 of his 9 games played so far.
Max Jones: Max Jones was selected 24th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He is off to a torrid start this season, recording 15 points through just 6 games played. He has recorded points in each of those games, including 7 points in his last 2 games. He recorded 52 points in 62 games as a rookie last season.
The Sting return home on Sunday to face the North Bay Battalion for the first of two meetings this season. The Battalion are 6-6-0-0 through 12 games this season, and will play two games prior to arriving in Sarnia on Sunday.
NB Players to Watch:
Brett McKenzie: McKenzie was selected in the 7th round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks. He currently leads the Battalion with 13 points through 11 games played. The fourth-year centre recorded 53 points in 66 games a year ago.
Cam Dineen: A 3rd round pick of the Arizona Coyotes in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Dineen has recorded 8 points in 11 games so far this year. The sophomore defenceman is coming off an impressive 59 point season as a rookie.
