Weekend Preview | 2-in-2
After a tough 3-game slate last weekend that included an impressive 7-4 comeback win over Ottawa, and two tough losses to Flint and Sault Ste. Marie (OTL), the Sarnia Sting prepare for their first tilt against an undefeated Kitchener Rangers squad. Action gets underway Friday night at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The Sting will be back home Saturday night to face the Peterborough Petes with puck drop set for 7:05 PM. Tickets
STING NOTES:
- Justin Fazio: Fazio was solid in Friday’s win against Ottawa, going 1-0-1 on the weekend. He has yet to lose in regulation.
- Kevin Spinozzi: Spinozzi continued his scoring tear on the weekend with 2 assists in Friday’s win, 1 assist vs. Flint, and a goal Sunday against the Greyhounds. Spinozzi leads all OHL defencemen with 7 points.
- Nikita Korostelev: Korostelev posted a hat-trick and an assist in his first game back with the Sting. He added a goal vs. Flint Saturday, and an assist Sunday vs. the Greyhounds to bring his season total up to 7 points.
- Jordan Kyrou: Kyrou scored in his first game back vs. Ottawa last Friday and tallied 5 assists in the final two games of the weekend. Kyrou has 6 points in his first 3 games.
- Troy Lajeunesse: Lajeunesse scored in two straight and is tied with Korostelev and Spinozzi for the team lead with 7 points.
- Adam Ruzicka: The first year Sting is off to a great start with points in two of his first five games, including a goal and an assist in last Friday’s win vs. the 67’s
This Friday the Sting head to Kitchener for the first time this year to face an undefeated Rangers squad. Sarnia will have help from Nikita Korostelev and Jordan Kyrou who are both back from their respective NHL camps, as they look to get back into the win column. Korostelev had 3 goals and 1 assist in his first game back last Friday. The puck drops at 7:30 PM.

KIT Players to Watch:
Connor Bunnaman: A 4th round selection in the 2016 NHL entry draft, Bunnaman has gotten off to a strong start with four points in two games played this season, while earning the games first star in each of those games.
Darby Llewellyn: After posting 38 points in 68 games last season, Llewellyn has started the new campaign strong with 5 points in just two games this season.
The Sting and Petes will square off for the first time this Saturday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The Petes have played 5 games so far this season and own a 3-2-0-0 record. They have won their previous two contests after beating Saginaw last night by a score of 4-3. The puck drops at 7:05 PM.
PBO Players to Watch:
Matthew Timms: The third year defenceman leads the Petes in scoring with 5 points through 5 games this season after posting 21 points in 68 games a year ago.
C.J. Clarke: Clarke was taken in the 2nd round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, and has posted 4 points in 5 games this season after generating just 2 points in 53 games last year.
