BARRIE, ON – The Sarnia Sting snapped a two-game losing skid on Saturday night, defeating the Barrie Colts by a score of 5-2. The win improves the Sting record to 25-20-5-1 on the season.
Making just his third career OHL start, Blair Coffin turned aside 31 of 33 shots en route to his first career OHL win. Christian Propp turned aside 39 of 44 shots faced for the Colts in the loss.
Drake Rymsha opened the scoring for the Sting at 8:37 of the first for his 20th goal of the season. Jordan Kyrou was credited with the assist and quickly extended his point streak to an impressive 16 games. Troy Lajeunesse would put the Sting up by 2 just 1:14 later, tipping home a Jordan Ernst shot to make it a 2-0 game. Theo Calvas was credited with the secondary assist on the goal.
At the 11:36 mark, Roy Radke would get the Colts on the board, as he managed to jam home a wrap-around attempt for his 12th goal of the season.
Rymsha would reclaim the two-goal lead for the Sting at 17:30, scoring his second goal of the period on the power-play. Jordan Kyrou was given the only assist on the goal.
At 2:49 of the 2nd period, Kyle Heitzner snuck a shot past Coffin to cut the lead to 3-2 for the Sting. Sean Josling answered back quickly for the Sting, however, getting a shot under the glove of Propp at 4:28 to give the Sting a 4-2 lead. Jaden Lindo and Franco Sproviero were credited with the assists on the goal.
Franco Sproviero would seal the win for the Sting at 14:07 of the 3rd period, scoring top left corner on Propp to make it 5-2. The goal was unassisted.
