Monday Morning Buzz | Sting Heating Up Before Holidays
“Sarnia Sting goal…assisted by number twenty-five Jordan Kyrou..”
Those words have now been spoken about Sting captain Jordan Kyrou more times than any other player in franchise history. On Friday night versus the Erie Otters, Kyrou became the Sting’s all time leader in career assists. On a goal scored by linemate Adam Ruzicka, Kyrou played setup man for the 159th time. Kyrou surpassed the record previously held by former Sting star Kris Newbury. Check out the clip below.

Going back to action earlier in the week, the Sting started off with trip to Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday night. The Soo came out firing and took this one by a final score of 6-3. Having just replaced the Sting as the number one ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League, the Hounds were constantly on the attack. It evens the season series between the two at one apiece.
On Friday, the Sting took it to Erie. Led by Kyrou’s record-breaking performance, the Sting were victorious in a complete 7-4 victory. Ruzicka had two goals, both assisted by Kyrou, and Kyrou himself also had a goal to his name.
And on Saturday night, Sarnia wrapped up their weekend with a powerful win over the visiting Peterborough Petes. The Sting peppered the Petes’ goalcrease all night long, and finished the night with a 3-1 win. Watch Ryan McGregor come up big four-on-four in the video below.

Up Next
The Sting look ahead to three more big games this week.
Starting on Wednesday, the Saginaw Spirit are rolling into town. Sting fans probably will not be rolling out the red carpet for their welcome. We all know why. This will be a major game to watch across the league this week – there’s more than just two points on the line.
On Friday, it’s the second edition of the Battle of the 402. The Sting head down the highway to Budweiser Garden to take on the rival London Knights. Sarnia took the opening contest by a score of 4-1 at home on November 22. The crowd in London will no doubt be loud in this marquee Friday night game. London will look to rely on Robert Thomas, their leader and an invitee to Canada’s upcoming World Junior Selection Camp.
And on Saturday, the Sting conclude the weekend by hosting the Flint Firebirds. The teams have split their pair of games this season. The Sting took contest number one, 6-2 here at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in October. The Firebirds took the second one, 5-3 on their home ice for their school day game. Round three has puckdrop on our home ice at 7:05 PM on Saturday night.
