FINAL: Rangers 4, Greyhounds 7
The Kitchener Rangers were back in action for the 2nd of back-to-back games against The Soo Greyhounds. The Rangers were looking to bounce back from Friday night.
The Rangers earned a powerplay just two minutes into the game but were unable to capitalize. Andrew LeBlanc took a double minor for high-sticking and the Soo got an opportunity on the powerplay. Just after killing the penalty off, we were sent back on the penalty kill. The Soo capitalized on their second powerplay to get the 1-0 lead. The Rangers looked to stay out of the box in the 2nd period as they were shorthanded three times in the 1st.
The Rangers got another early powerplay in the period but could not beat the Soo goaltender. Mitchell Martin thought he tied the game but after review, the play was offside. Just after, Carson Rehkopf scored on the powerplay to officially get on the board, tying the game. Francesco Pinelli followed that up with another goal, taking the 2-1 lead. The Soo scored two quick goals within 30 seconds, grabbing a 3-2 lead. Less than a minute later, Jacob LeBlanc responded and tied the game at 3-3. The Soo regained the lead off a powerplay goal late in the period, making it 4-3.
During the 3rd, both teams traded chances through the first 10 minutes, but either team could capitalize on their opportunities. The Rangers finally broke through as Carson Rehkopf scored his second goal of the game to tie it 4-4. Three minutes later, the Soo scored to take the lead again, making it 5-4. The Soo would add two empty-net goals to win this game by a final score of 7-4.
