The Canadian Hockey League (CHL), Kelowna Rockets, and 2026 Memorial Cup Host Organizing Committee will officially welcome the Memorial Cup to Kelowna on Thursday, May 21, with the Arrival of the Cup presented by Canco. The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. PT at City Park. A formal welcome ceremony will follow at Stuart Park from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. PT, introducing the four teams competing in the 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota: the host Kelowna Rockets, Western Hockey League (WHL) champion Everett Silvertips, Ontario Hockey League (OHL) champion Kitchener Rangers, and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) champion Chicoutimi Saguenéens. The ceremony following introductions will include the unveiling of the Kelowna Rockets’ commemorative jersey, which will be worn during Friday’s opening game of the 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota against the Kitchener Rangers at 6 p.m. PT at Prospera Place.

The commemorative jersey unveiling continues a Memorial Cup tradition that began at the 2008 Memorial Cup in Kitchener, Ont., when the host Kitchener Rangers became the first team to wear special opening-game jerseys in support of The Royal Canadian Legion. Since then, the Canadian Hockey League and the Member Leagues have raised more than $320,000 for The Royal Canadian Legion’s Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund, which supports Veterans and their families. The Everett Silvertips advanced to the semi-finals of the 2026 Memorial Cup after a 4-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets Wednesday night. Kayd Ruedig, Jaxon Pisani, Matias Vanhanen and Carter Bear (DET) scored for the Silvertips while Anders Miller turned away all 28 shots he faced. Kelowna’s Josh Banini made eight saves before he was replaced by Harrison Boettiger who stopped 22 of 23 shots. The Silvertips will now meet the Sagueneens – who they beat 6-2 earlier in the tournament – in Friday’s semi-final.

The Everett Silvertips advanced to the final of the 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota after a 6-1 win over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in Friday’s semi-final. Landon DuPont scored twice while Jaxsin Vaughan, Carter Bear (DET), Zackary Shantz and Julius Miettien (SEA) also found the back of the net. Between the pipes, Anders Miller made 25 saves. For Chicoutimi, Tomas Lavoie (UTA) had their lone goal while Lucas Beckman (OTT) stopped 22 shots. Raphael Precourt turned away eight shots over the final period.

The 1981 Memorial Cup occurred May 3–15 at the Windsor Arena in Windsor, Ontario. Participating teams were the winners of the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League (Kitchener Rangers, Cornwall Royals and Victoria Cougars). Cornwall won their second Memorial Cup in a row and third overall, defeating Kitchener in the final game. The 1981 Memorial Cup marked the first appearance in tournament history for the Kitchener Rangers franchise.

The Rangers were powered by 16-year-old rookie Brian Bellows, who recorded 47 goals and 116 points in 66 games. Bellows also paced the club in playoff goal scoring with 14 goals, while adding 13 assists for 27 points in 16 post-season contests. Jeff Larmer enjoyed a breakout campaign, leading the Rangers with 54 goals and finishing second in team scoring with 108 points across 68 games. Grant Martin contributed 41 goals and 98 points during the regular season before leading the team in playoff scoring with 29 points in 18 games. On the blue line, Joe McDonnell anchored the Rangers defence with 15 goals and 65 points in 66 games. In net, Wendell Young served as the club’s starting goaltender, posting a 19-15-0 record along with a 4.44 goals-against average in 42 appearances.

1981 RANGERS ROSTER & STATS

The 1982 Memorial Cup was held May 8–15, 1982, at the Robert Guertin Arena in Hull, Quebec. The champions of the Ontario Hockey League (Kitchener Rangers), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (Sherbrooke Castors) and Western Hockey League (Portland Winter Hawks) competed for the championship.

The tournament was held in a double round-robin format, with each squad playing their opponents twice. The Rangers lost to the Castors 10–4 in the opening game, but rebounded their next game to defeat the Winter Hawks 9–2. Brian Bellows broke a Memorial Cup record by scoring the fastest goal to start a game in tournament history at 11 seconds. Portland then defeated Sherbrook 6–5 in overtime to bring all three teams to one win and one loss apiece. The Rangers defeated the Castors 4–0 the second time around, but lost 4–2 to the Winter Hawks. Sherbrooke closed out the round robin with a 7–3 victory over Portland.

As all three teams were tied with 2–2 records, the Rangers and Castors went through to the final via greater goal differential. The Rangers led the game 3–1 after the first period, and 5–2 after the second. Kitchener’s Mike Eagles put the game out of reach by scoring two short handed goals 14-seconds apart early in the third. For the Rangers, it was their first Memorial Cup championship in franchise history.

1982 RANGERS ROSTER & STATS

The 1984 Memorial Cup occurred May 12–19 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario. Participating teams were the host team (Kitchener Rangers), as well as the winners of the Ontario Hockey League (Ottawa 67’s), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (Laval Voisins) and Western Hockey League (Kamloops Jr. Oilers). The Rangers finished the 1983–84 season with a 52-16-2 record, earning 106 points and winning the Hamilton Spectator Trophy as the team with the best record during the regular season in the OHL.

Kitchener opened the tournament on May 12 defeating Laval 8-2, as Lemieux was held pointless for just the third time in 85 games. The Rangers got two goals each from Brian Wilks and Carmine Vani. The Rangers made it two in a row on May 13, clinching at least a semifinal berth, as they took an 8-0 lead and hung on to beat Kamloops, 9-7. Also on May 13, Ottawa clinched at least a semifinal berth by beating Laval, 6-5 and one night later, Brian Kilrea’s 67’s beat Kamloops, 5-1. Kamloops then bounced back to edge Laval, 4-3, on May 15. The loss put Kamloops into a semifinal and eliminated Laval. On May 16, Kitchener beat Ottawa, 7-2, to move into the final and send the ’67s against Kamloops. On May 17, the ’67s got two goals and three assists from Adam Creighton, the tournament MVP, in a 7-2 victory over the Jr Oilers. That result set up yet another meeting between the Rangers and 67’s. Ottawa went on to win its first Memorial Cup, scoring a 7-2 victory on May 22.

1984 RANGERS ROSTER & STATS

Four teams gathered in Hamilton to decide the 1990 Memorial Cup in the Copps Coliseum. However, the OHL’s Dukes of Hamilton, who were to have been the host team, weren’t among them. The Dukes had won only 11 games, so the OHL sent along its champion, the Oshawa Generals, and runner-up, the Kitchener Rangers, to compete with the Kamloops Blazers and Laval Titan.

When the tournament began, the high-powered Blazers were the favourites, but they lost their first two games, both in OT, 8-7 to Kitchener and 7-6 to Oshawa. On May 9, Laval beat Kamloops, 4-2. The Blazers, the CHL’s top-ranked team a few days earlier, were 0-3 and the first team eliminated. Oshawa, meanwhile, had beaten Laval, 6-2, and then grabbed a spot in the final when Dale Craigwells’ goal at 4:16 of double OT gave it a 5-4 victory over Kitchener on May 10. Kitchener, which had beaten Laval, 5-3, in the round-robin, moved into the final with another victory over the Titan, this time 5-4, on May 12. In the end, the Generals gave Oshawa its first Memorial Cup since 1944, beating Kitchener, 4-3, on May 13 when Bill Armstrong scored at 2:05 of the second OT.

1990 RANGERS ROSTER & STATS

The 2003 Memorial Cup was held in Quebec City’s Colisée Pepsi. Playing in the tournament were the host Remparts, Hull Olympiques, Kitchener Rangers and Kelowna Rockets.

The Rangers opened the round-robin by beating Quebec, 4-3, on May 17. Three days later, the Rangers beat Hull, 4-1. On May 21, they earned a berth in the final by doubling Kelowna, 4-2, behind two goals from Mike Richards. Hull got into the final by beating Kelowna, 2-1, in the semifinal, Francis Wathier breaking a 1-1 tie at 6:03 of the second period. In the championship game, Evan McGrath, a 17-year-old freshman, scored twice and added an assist as the Rangers dumped Hull, 6-3, grabbing the Memorial Cup for Kitchener for the first time since 1982. Gregory Campbell and Andre Benoit each had a goal and two assists for the winners.

Derek Roy was selected the MVP, with Campbell, the tournament’s leading scorer, getting the sportsmanship award. Kitchener’s Scott Dickie was named top goaltender.

Scott Dickie, Steve Eminger, Derek Roy, Gregory Campbell and Mike Richards were on the all-star team, along with Hull defenceman Doug O’Brien. Peter DeBoer was the Rangers’ general manager and head coach.

The 2008 Memorial Cup was played in May 2008 in Kitchener, Ontario at the Memorial Auditorium. The tournament was competed between the WHL champion Spokane Chiefs, the QMJHL champion Gatineau Olympiques, the Kitchener Rangers as host of the tournament and OHL champions, and the OHL representative Belleville Bulls, who earned their place by reaching the OHL finals against Kitchener.

The tournament began on May 16 with the Rangers beating the Olympiques, 6-5, on Justin Azevedo’s power-play goal at 6:59 of overtime. In the other round-robin games, Belleville doubled Gatineau, 6-3, on May 19, and Belleville got by Kitchener, 4-3, when Keaton Turkiewicz scored at 8:55 of OT. The Olympiques (0-3) were eliminated, while the Rangers went on to beat the Bulls, 9-0, in the semifinal, getting three goals from Azevedo and 25 saves from Josh Unice.

The Chiefs, who also won the 1991 Memorial Cup, enjoyed four days off before the May 25 final in which they scored the last four goals. Bowman’s tournament-best sixth goal, at 4:11 of the second period, stood up as the winner, but things were in doubt until Jared Cowen’s empty-netter at 19:04. The Spokane Chiefs defeated the host Kitchener Rangers, 4-1, and famously broke the replica Memorial Cup at centre ice.
