Team History

Major junior hockey arrived in Kingston in 1973 with the Kingston Canadians, beginning a new chapter for the city at the Memorial Centre. After 15 seasons, the franchise became the Kingston Raiders in 1988 for one memorable transitional year before officially rebranding as the Kingston Frontenacs in 1989. Since then, the Frontenacs have carried Kingston’s black-and-gold identity through decades of OHL hockey, building a strong connection with the community. Today, the franchise remains a proud part of Kingston’s history and a symbol of the city’s passion for the game.

The Logos

A team’s logo is the symbol that represents its identity, history, and community. It appears on jerseys, merchandise, and throughout the arena, helping fans instantly recognize and connect with the team.

The Roster

OHL rosters are made up of players ages 16 to 20. Teams add players through the OHL Priority Selection, U18 Priority Selection, and CHL Import Draft.

Being drafted does not guarantee a roster spot. Players must earn their place based on talent, readiness, position needs, character, and development potential.

Strong rosters balance young prospects, veteran leadership, imports, overagers, role players, and goaltending depth.

Team Jerseys

Dark and Light:

A jersey is more than just a uniform. It represents a team’s identity, history, and pride. Every crest, colour, and number symbolizes the players, fans, and community that stand behind it.

The Kingston Frontenacs’ primary dark and light jerseys proudly showcase the club’s gold, black, and white colours. Featuring the signature Block K logo on the chest and the secondary Spoked K logo on the shoulders, the jerseys embody the team’s tradition, passion, and connection to the Kingston community. Completing the design are bold tricolour numbers, ensuring strong visibility while adding a distinctive finishing touch to the jersey’s overall look.

Military CADPAT Jersey

Kingston has a deep-rooted military presence and tradition, which calls for a bold jersey design that pays respect to the service men and women who have served. The Frontenacs proudly wear a military-inspired jersey each season as a tribute to their service and sacrifice.

The Kingston Frontenacs reportedly became the first team to receive permission from the Canadian Armed Forces to use the traditional “CADPAT” pattern on their uniforms, an honour the organization will never forget.

2025-26 Warm-up Jersey

Our Gino’s Pizza warm-up jersey features the FHC crest, inspired by the 1911 Kingston Frontenacs, winners of the first J. Ross Robertson Cup as junior champions of Canada.

The crest honours Kingston’s hockey roots and the legacy of James T. Sutherland, Allan “Scotty” Davidson, and George Richardson, whose impact helped shape junior hockey, the Memorial Cup and Kingston’s rich hockey history.

East Division

The Kingston Frontenacs compete in the Ontario Hockey League as a member of the East Division, which falls under the league’s Eastern Conference.

The division features some of the OHL’s most historic and competitive franchises, creating a strong regional rivalry base for Kingston each season. The Frontenacs regularly face division opponents including the Ottawa 67’s, Oshawa Generals, Peterborough Petes, and Brantford Bulldogs.

These matchups are an important part of the team’s regular season schedule, often carrying added intensity due to playoff positioning, long-standing rivalries, and the close connection between fan bases across Eastern Ontario.

Eastern Conference

The Kingston Frontenacs play in the Ontario Hockey League’s Eastern Conference. The Fronts compete against nine other teams within the conference: the Brantford Bulldogs, Barrie Colts, Ottawa 67’s, Peterborough Petes, North Bay Battalion, Niagara IceDogs, Sudbury Wolves, Brampton Steelheads, and Oshawa Generals.

Each team battles for playoff positioning over a 68-game regular season, with the top eight teams qualifying for the playoffs. The Eastern Conference playoffs feature three best-of-seven rounds, with the conference champion advancing to face the Western Conference champion in the OHL Championship Series for the chance to be crowned OHL champions.
