FRONTS WIN SCHOOL DAY GAME
The Kingston Fronteancs remain perfect in the annual school day game with Ottawa, earning their third straight win at the event, that sees local Ottawa area school kids attend the game during school hours. Spencer Watson and Henri Ikonen scored in the shoot-out to lead the Fronts to a 3-2 win over the 67’s.
Ottawa opened the scoring on a goal from the the side boards off the rush by Taylor Fielding, but Kingston responded 62 seconds later when Ikonen scooped up a loose puck and beat a slow reacting Keegan Wilson in the Ottawa net. Taylor Davis gave Ottawa the lead again 22 seconds into the second period, but Fronts rookie Roland McKeown tied the game midway through the middle period.
The Fronts never owned the lead the entire morning, but carried large bulks of the play of action. The game remained tied through the third period and into overtime, where Ikonen and Watson scored on both Kingston chances, while Mike Morrison was beaten by Tyler Graovac on the first attempt, but then proceeded to stop Sean Monahan and Jake Cardwell to secure the win for the Fronts.
Kingston’s next action is Friday night, when they host the Brampton Battalion.
