
Dick Cherry had an illustrious and impressive hockey career making it all the way to the NHL. Dick played two seasons for the Barrie Flyers in the OHA Jr. A beginning in 1955-1956. He then spent the next eight seasons in the minor leagues before his crack at the NHL. Along the way, Dick spent two seasons playing for the Kingston Frontenacs who, at the time, were a member of the Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL). Dick played his first full season of NHL hockey for the Philadelphia Flyers in 1968-1969. Impressively, Dick also became a school teacher while playing professionally.
Upon retiring from professional hockey, Dick moved back to Kingston and became a school principal. He began working in hockey for the St. Louis Blues of the NHL in 1996 as an Amateur Scout, a position he held for four seasons. Dick started working for the Kingston Frontenacs in 2005 as Director of Player Development and Head Scout. Dick currently covers Kingston and the surrounding area, and his many years of experience are extremely valued within the organization.
Dick resides in Bath, Ontario just outside of Kingston. Dick has ample amount of family that live within the Kingston area, and when he’s not out scouting Dick enjoys playing hockey, and being a member of the Frontenac Rifle and Pistol Club.
