TRADE: Frontenacs Acquire Tyler Savard from Colts
The Kingston Frontenacs have acquired overage forward Tyler Savard from the Barrie Colts in exchange for an 8th round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.

Savard, who was born in Atlanta, Georgia, was originally drafted by the Soo Greyhounds in the 11th round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection draft. He was acquired by the Barrie Colts on January 3rd, 2023. In September of 2022, Tyler attended Philadelphia Flyers training camp as a free agent invite.
In 56 regular season games played last season, split between Sault Ste. Marie (30) and Barrie (26), Savard scored 17 goals and added 30 assists for 47 points. The 6’2” forward played in 13 playoff games in 2023, scoring 4 goals and 7 assists for 11 points. His OHL career totals include 105 games played, 26 goals, and 49 assists for 75 points.
“With the addition of Tyler, we get an experienced OHL performer who adds some physicality with a scoring touch.” said General Manager Kory Cooper about the new member of the Black and Gold. “He played some of his best hockey in last season’s playoffs with Barrie and adds further depth to our forward group.”
Tyler will arrive in Kingston today and join his new teammates at practice in preparation for the season opener in Peterborough on Thursday evening. The Frontenacs Home Opener is scheduled for Friday starting at 7 PM at Leon’s Centre, with a free tailgate party taking place from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on The Tragically Hip Way to celebrate dropping the puck on a new season.
