Game Recap: Frontenacs unable to play villain as they fall 5-2 to Bulldogs
On Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles night at the Brantford Civic Centre, the Frontenacs took on the role of the villains, with Mason Vaccari showcasing an outstanding performance by shutting out all 20 shots he faced through two periods. Linus Hemstrom gave Kingston a 1-0 lead with 20 minutes left to play. However, mirroring the twists in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, the Bulldogs rallied, scoring three unanswered goals and adding two empty-netters to secure a 5-2 victory.
The Bulldogs burst into the game with remarkable energy, outshooting the Frontenacs 13 to 3 in the first 20 minutes. Thanks to Vaccari’s focused efforts, the game remained scoreless heading into the first intermission. Vaccari’s highlight reel moment came in the final minute of the period with a spectacular glove save on Marek Vanacker.
In the second period, the Black and Gold came out stronger, out-chancing the Bulldogs with 9 shots to Brantford’s 7. Linus Hemstrom, receiving a pass from Luke McNamara at the 7:44 mark, scored from a sharp angle, giving Kingston a temporary lead. McNamara recorded his first point as a Kingston Frontenac, with Quinton Burns collecting the secondary assist.
The third period belonged to the Bulldogs, who scored three unanswered goals and added two empty-netters, securing a 5-2 win over the Frontenacs. Brantford’s goal-scorers included Patrick Thomas (5), Nick Lardis (16), Tomáš Hamara (1), and Ben Bujold (4,5). Matthew Soto managed to score a late goal, and Paul Ludwinski extended his point streak to 14 games, matching the longest streak since 2016, previously achieved by Michael Dal Colle.
