Frontenacs name Leadership Group ahead of Season Opener
Kingston, ON – Ahead of the opening game of the 2024-25 season, the Kingston Frontenacs are pleased to announce the leadership group for the upcoming season.
Head Coach Troy Mann announced to the team on Wednesday that fourth year defenseman Quinton Burns will wear the ‘C’ as the captain of the newest edition of the Black and Gold. The product of Smiths Falls, ON has spent his entire career with the Frontenacs appearing in over 150 games. He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 2023 and signed his entry level contract in August of 2024.
“Burnsie lives and dies for the Frontenacs and those are the type of players that we want in the organization.” said Mann. “He buys in to what we are selling here. I love his compete and his passion, not only for the game, but for the jersey and the logo. Ultimately, we are trying to win, and I think you can win with a guy like Burnsie.”
“It is a huge honor to be named captain of the Kingston Frontenacs.” added Burns. “I take a lot of pride in being a leader and I will do my best to help this team to a great season.”
Supporting Burns will be assistant captains Gage Heyes, Cal Uens, Jacob Battaglia, and Cedrick Guindon. Two players will wear a letter at home, with the other two doing so on the road.
Mann continued “I think five is a nice number for a leadership group. One thing I felt last year was a bit of a disconnect between the younger guys and the older guys. At the end of the day, we need everybody pulling on the same rope. This leadership group gives us a nice mix of veteran leadership. The playoff round showed me a lot last year when it comes to who wants to win and who wants to compete, and some of those guys are the ones we are talking about today.””
The Frontenacs open their season tonight in Peterborough against the Petes. They return home tomorrow, September 27 for the 2024-25 Home Opener presented by Scotiabank. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM, but fans are encouraged to join the free tailgate party taking place on The Tragically Hip Way beginning at 4:30 PM.
