Five storylines in tonight’s game:
The Series to Date
The Kingston Frontenacs first 2023-24 road game of the season was in Peterborough, so it was only fitting their last road game of the season came at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. In the season opener, the Petes drew first blood in the series winning 5-4. The Frontenacs rallied off 4 straight wins against the Petes following the opening night defeat. The Petes have won the last two meetings with the Frontenacs, setting the stage for an intense season series finale tonight.
Locked up Playoffs
The Kingston Frontenacs secured a playoff berth last Sunday with their 4-1 win over the Sarnia Sting. The win gave Kingston 62 points on the season, ensuring them that the Peterborough Petes (50 points) and Niagara IceDogs (39 points) mathematically can’t catch Kingston in the standings. The Petes can still catch Barrie for a playoff spot, so the Frontenacs will have to be ready for the urgency coming from the Petes tonight.
Last Game
This is the second meeting in a row between these two rivals as the Frontenacs and Petes last met on Wednesday night in Peterborough. The game saw the Petes earn a 5-3 victory on home ice, with the Kingston Frontenacs now set to close out their 2023-24 regular season with 4 straight home games.
Player to Watch: Peterborough
A player worth keeping an eye on for both Kingston Frontenacs players and fans is Chase Lefebvre (#7). In the 7 games he’s played against Kingston, Lefebvre has notched 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points. His impressive point-per-game pace against Kingston leads his team and he is entering the game coming off a hat trick against the Black and Gold on Wednesday night.
Player to Watch: Kingston
Keep an eye on Jacob Battaglia in tonight’s matchup against Peterborough. He’s been a thorn in the Petes’ side all season long. The skilled forward has racked up 6 goals and 6 assists, totaling 12 points in just 7 games against them. Jacob scored a beautiful goal on the power play on Wednesday night, notching his 31st goal of the season on Wednesday night.
