Five storylines to watch during tonight’s game:
Hot Streaks
The two hottest teams in the Eastern Conference are set to face off against one another tonight at Leon’s Centre. Both the Kingston Frontenacs and Oshawa Generals share identical records of 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games.
Previous Meeting
The Frontenacs and Generals last faced off on November 12th, 2023, at Tribute Communities Centre. In that game, Kingston took leads of 2-0 and 3-1, but the Generals resiliently stayed in the game. In the final minutes of the third period, Ryder McIntyre, formerly with the Generals and now a Pete, scored to tie the game and force overtime. The match ultimately went to a shootout, with Chris Thibodeau scoring the lone goal to secure Kingston’s victory.
Stay Powerful
The Kingston Frontenacs power play has been exceptional against the Generals this season, which is a big part of the team securing 6 of 8 points in the season series to date. Kingston’s man advantage has converted on 6 of 14 power play opportunities this season. That is a success rate of 42.85%.
Player to Watch: Oshawa Generals
Oshawa Generals goaltender, Jacob Oster is one of the top goaltenders in the league this season and he has been on a hot stretch over the past month. In that span, Oster has a 2.43 goals-against average and a 0.920 save percentage while earning 7 wins. The Frontenacs will need to bring their A game to Leon’s Centre tonight as they won’t want Oster to steal the show for Oshawa.
Player to Watch: Kingston Frontenacs
There will be a home debut tonight for the Black and Gold. Kingston Frontenacs fans will be able to watch the newly acquired forward, Jax Dubois take home ice for the first time wearing number 63. Jax was picked up by the Frontenacs at the trade deadline to add size, scoring, leadership and faceoff experience. Jax is currently leading the OHL in faceoffs won with 595. He has 147 more faceoffs won than second place, Jake Karabela. It is safe to say, Fronts fans can expect the Fronts to control the puck a lot more when Dubois is on the ice.
